Question:

Purple "wax" from trees??

The tree in front of my house has been dripping some sort of purple wax onto my car. It's happened twice within about a week.

Does anybody know what this is?

I think my tree is an ash tree, but I'm not sure...

Much thanks to whoever can answer.

  1. If it is a sticky sap ( honeydew ), different sorts of insects like  aphids, leafhoppers, treehoppers, and soft-shelled scale insects f.e. excrete it sometimes.

Control for sap-feeding insects and additional info:

The sap or resin of trees normally drops out after lesion only.
