Pursuit of money leaves New York Mets compromising their pre-season work out day - MLB Update
Two back-to-back games against New York Yankees meant that the New York Mets will not be having a work-out day before the regular season opener. Conventionally teams go through this day, in a final attempt to streamline any discrepancy unaddressed in training.
More so, players practice necessary adjustments keeping in view strengths and weaknesses of their rival on opening day.
When explored why such a risk was taken by the Mets at the stroke of season start, it came out that their financial crisis has taken such a terrible toll on them that every single decision they make now reflects their lust for money.
Nonchalance to season prospects means that the Mets will enter the season with an ample chance of ending up the lowest in National League East.
As pundits predict, the Mets now appear demoralised with their prospects. That is why at-least the higher management is not showing any intent to take the side to any respectable standing in the season.
The whole idea of setting two games at the end of Spring Training trickled down from top management as manager Terry Collins was also not taken onboard.
As per the sources, as soon as the Mets discovered that the Yankees will be visiting new Marlins Ballpark, a request was issued to Yankees for two consecutive games in the last days of Spring Training.
Sole purpose of the match-up was to generate extra money from sell-out games. Star studded Yankees command great attraction among fans and thus the Mets foresaw extra millions they will be earning with games.
An apology has now come from General Manager Sandy Alderson on schedule mishandling, who explains it was something beyond his control.
The fact Citi Field on which the Mets will be beginning their opening day has dimensions different from the normal ballpark with a few areas calling upon attention may go unaddressed. Their inability to get used to the stadium may nullify entire preparations
they have been making in Spring Training.
After all eventful Spring Training ends for the Mets, they will be looking to put everything aside and keep their focus on the task at hand in the season. It will be a moment to watch as to how far they can go in this regard.
