  1. No your not alone, I always stated that Aussie rules is getting worse and worse each each year. Too many rule changes for the worse. Why do they need to change rules every year?  I may sound like a grump, but I am sick of this c**p. The game is changing, soon the players will have to wear skirts.I much prefer the SANFL, where footy is footy (the real stuff), if any one can't handle the ruff and biffo, don't watch it....but don't complain. It seems like the AFL is worried about the image of the game, well the image is going to be like touch footy and even than the players might get reported. Why can't the players and coaches speak their minds? Its not right that they can't. The AFL knows the game is getting softer and thats why the coaches and players get fined  for opening their mouths.

The rules commitee should listen to the fans, the supporters, the coaches and players. Footy is not about just rules and umpires.

  2. I feel the same way that you do. I see the free kicks given for the minimal contact from behind, and even from the side, in the last few years and I can see how fastidious the game has become. You have to remember that it's not the umpires fault, they are simply implementing the rule changes and paying the free kicks they are told to.

I think the reason for the rule changes comes from the AFL who feels that they need a wide-sped comprehensive interpretation of how the game is governed. The AFL are seeking more consistent and dependable interpretations of rules. Their intent is legitiment, however the game has suffered in that it is being played without logic and rationale.

In all honesty, the rules of our game of AFL football are extremely inexplicit and ambiguous. They always have been, that is the truth about how our game is played. I think in the last few years we have seen that, to some degree, they have to remain that way. Making more stern and strict rules takes away from the true way of which the game should be played.

What I think should happen is that the AFL should have designed and clear-cut rules, but the implementation should come down to logic and judgement. I know there is a lot of contradiction that forms from this, but we just need to be reasonable and analytical about how the game is played.

  3. theyv'e already made it into q****s game.it's supposed to be a contact sport they couldnt possibly take to much more out of it if they do they may as well just call it team tennis and kick the ball from end to end.aussie rules isn't the only contact sport thats going this way.we dont want to see to see ppl getting seriously hurt or extreme random violence but a bit of biff in the back play etc is just part of the game.i agree with leigh matthews guarantee a punch up in every game and the stands will be full.they went way to far with the softening years ago.

    EDIT.puffball,meat pies kangaroos and holden cars?GO LIONS!!!!wooooohoooo

  4. no your not the only one,i think the rules committee are going too slowly kill our great game,

we have a unique CONTACT sport that is played with speed, skill and a physical nature, the AFL and dimetrio are turning our sport into what other states have accused us of being-nothing more than aerial ping pong and a different form of mens net ball.

i can't think of another sport in the world that changes its rules every year just for the sake of it,the AFL are obsessed with this idea they can make the game better EVERY YEAR by changing the rules, instead they have only watered footy down from the great spectacle it once was-i.e a bit of biffo, the hard hip and shoulder and the one on one contests-which with the new rules are going to be obsolete.

NOTE TO THE AFL-LEAVE OUR F###ING GAME ALONE

  5. oh no!!!!! taking the spekies out of football what!!!!!!!! what next your not aloud to mark the ball sheeesh come on  AFL   wake up to your selves

  6. yeah it is not a good change. However it is difficult to have rules that rely on judgement, so they made the rules more easy to administer. I also don't like the rule that a bump that causes injury is a free kick and report.
