Question:

Pushups in a cool environment?

The home where I live is very hot but I sometimes use a fan too cool down. Would it be at all wise to point a fan on myself when preforming exercises? I hear that the muscles are supposed to loosen and heat up when you exercise them but when they cool down they contract. Would this be a problem?

  1. As long as you aren't actually cold, it would be okay.

  2. I don't think it would be a problem. As you work a muscle it warms up no matter what the temperature. And if you are only going to put a fan on yourself there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

  3. Your muscles need to be warmed up yes, but your body needs to stay at a reasonably normal temperature prevent heat exhaustion or heat stroke.  Pointing a fan towards yourself is a good idea.

Our gym is kept very cold.  Once you get warmed up though, it feels hot in here.  lol
