I hate to say it, but I reckon Geelong have got 08GF won allready,

I really cant see anyone that will stop them.

(esp after they thumped the doggies, and if they beat the hawks this weekend, which they will)

Some guys at work reckon they will also be unstoppable next year, and dont really see any other team rising to beat them

Whats your thoughts???

  1. idk..i don't think hawthorns mental toughness is that strong  and the other teams haha they can forget it..but maybe it could be the year of the dog..just  maybe...thats who ima go for in the finals serious since my brilliant west coast arnt in this year (first time in 10 years)

i hope bulldogs win it...last chance for them.

  2. I love to say say it.....

    Cats for 08.

Our so called block buster against the doggies was a walk in the park. Also with 2 star players out including brownlow fav.

This friday will be the same.

The difference between 2nd and 3rd to the rest of the ladder is big, but the diff between the cats and 2/3rd is even bigger.

3 in a row is a bit early to call but if we keep the side together anything is possible. The style of football the cats play is hard to overcome and there has not  been anything like this in years.

    GO THE CATS

  3. sorry mate but this year the cups going to waverley to the home of the mighty hawks

  4. Geelong have this season covered I think. The only teams that are a threat would be Hawthorn & Collingwood, Collingwood when up and running can execute the hard tackling, pressure game style of Geelong as displayed earlier in the year.

Next year, well Hawthorn should be in there prime after a few years of moulding a young team under Clarkson. They are Geelong's threat of 3 cups in a row.

  5. I dont agree at all...anything can happen....they have been beaten once this year....so it can happen again...by who?  we will see.

  6. Nope!  No way have they 'got it won already'.  They're clearly the best club in the comp at the moment and realistically for some years.  But they have two sudden death games (Prelim & Granny) and no team is a certainty in any footy game.

Realistically - win next week or not they are white hot flag favs but that does not often translate to a flag.  Two hamstrings ... Bartel and Ablett, for example, lie between Hawthorn and Dogs and a real chance!

Next year, how do we keep all these amazing fringe players who would potentially be superstars with any other club?  Other than it being a great place to be I guess.

    I like being in Catland!!!

  7. **I think it's a bit early to start saying that Geelong will get three in a row - especially given they haven't even got two in a row yet.

They are a very strong side with a lot of depth and really have the potential to go back to back but anything could happen next year.**

  8. The Cats are a skilled, fast, cooperative BIG team - tick all the boxes.

They will certainly conquer this year unless they have mass injuries in the next ten weeks, which nobody would want for any team, even the one you hate.

By next year things may change. There seems to be a point at which everything comes together for a team, about when the average age is 24?and if the skills match the physical peak, you get a team like the Cats. But players retire, leave, get injured, fall into bad company, etc etc and that peak drops off as well.

If they are as fortunate with fitness as they have been this year, I can see them going threefold to 2009. There isn't a team in the comp that would give them a battle at present.

The Dogs are closest, but they don't have enough high, wide and handsome big lads to outreach the Cats!

  9. I'd say win this year before looking towards next year.

  10. no way!! i think they will win 08 but so many teams are getting so much better this is it for geelong

  11. no way 3

next year my eagles will win the flag

  12. they probably will but that is not such a bad thing at least it is not collingwood or a interstate team

  13. If they continue the way there going they will win this years grand final. As for next season you just never no. Look at the bulldogs. They didnt even finish top 8 last year(if memory serves me correct) and now they are dominating and coming 2nd. West coast finished top 4 last year and now are the fav to win the wooden spoon.

  14. Getting a bit ahead of yourself, even though your a tigers supporter, will be 2 in a row but not 3!

  15. you have to admit the team works together, alway's consistent and when 1 player is out there is someone to take over and pick up where that player left off,  the Cats play like a well oiled machine, I say back to back , hopefully Geelong keeps all it's players for 2009, then there's the possibility of 3peat

  16. The guys at your work could quite possibly be right, they could win 4 in a row, Brisbane were going for it, i think they are the equal of those good sides that Brisbane had.

They should beat Hawthorn pretty easy, even without Ablett and Ling. Especially after st.kilda gave the hawks a touch up, much to my surprise.

I reckon you're right about them winning this years Granny though,  who can challenge these blokes, bloody great side. Who knows if collingwood can get past a few sides in the finals, they seem to match up the best against Geelong but lose to lesser sides,  it's an old saying but 'it's a funny game'.

  17. I think that saying they will win three in a row is a little pre-mature, considering they haven't even won back to back yet. If they continue the way they are playing at the moment next year, it is a possibility. Don't forget, their list may change in a couple of years....

  18. more like 4 in a row

they are the best team in the last 20 years

  19. Geelong will dominate the competition for the next 3-5 years with a young list like theres - mean Ablett's in his early to mid 20's, and he's already a superstar of the game.

Geelong will easily win 2-3 in a row, and possibly go hunting for Collingwood's 1929-33 Premiership record

  20. i think that the only team that will give them a run will be either collingwood or hawks bulldogs lsot it and collingwood has kept wiht them so i dunno wats genna happen
