Question:

Put bonsai tree in full sun as directed, now it's dry as a bone, dead?

I just rubbed the "leaves" and a whole lot fell off, dry, brittle, so I guess it's dead right? 5 year old tree I've had for a month and now it's dead? It said it's an outdoor tree not indoor, so I put it outdoors and now it's dead. I think it would've done better in my bathroom as I'd originally intended.

  1. I'd suggest visiting the forum in the link below. Excellent bonsai resources and people to get advise from.

Even if it is an outdoor tree, if it has been living indoors, you can't just toss it outside and expect it to do well. It'd be like taking a person from a dark room and then blinding them with a spotlight. You have to slowly acclimate them back to being exposed to full sun. Start with partial sunlight/a shaded area, and after a week or two with that, move gradually to full sun.

  2. if you just bought it and put it in full sun it is in shock/sun burnt needles sure sign-move it to shaded area and see if it will recoup
