Something is hitting the balance cord. It is not the window side latch because we held that in when we opened it. Still a twang. Is there anything else in the metal balance mechanism that can cause the twang? What else should we check? Window opens smoothly otherwise. Thanks!

  1. Most windows fold out, so you can clean the outside.  It could be that the window isn't popped in correctly.  Try popping it out and putting it back in.  That might fix the twang.  Make sure it snaps in all the way.

  2. What type of installation did you use, fin or clip?

Is this a constant problem or did it just occur on the initial opening?

Where did you place your interior trim nails(if any)?

  3. I've put in all replacement pella windows.  Ours were wood and I don't remember anything that could twang.  Pella has a pretty good service department, they would love to hear from you directly.  I have a brother and sister in law that work there now and they love getting feedback.  Either use their website or call them, I think you'll be presently surprised.  We have good pella windows, recommend them to anyone.
