Puting bait on a hook help/spot fish /flounder fishing

im going to ocean city tomorow and i usually just cast net my fish but im going fishing this time and i allways catch about 200 spot in my net and i need to know how to put it on the hook and how far below the water it should be. a video for the hook thing would be helpfull. also what kind of fish can i catch with spot fish and any other information thank you

  1. The hook for the spot should go perpendicular to the fish.  

    <('-')> J  ---not---  >='> J

    Hook it about 1/3 distance from the tail, on its lateral line.

    I'm not sure what kind of fish you can catch with spots, as we don't have them down here.  They look quite similar to a croaker, though, which is where the hooking technique comes from.

    For flounder fishing, put a good amount of weight on your line.  Let it sink all the way to the bottom and slowly drag it across the bottom.  If a flounder feels it on him, either he'll swim off or suck it down.  Usually it's the second.
