Putnam Vocational High School boys volleyball team defeats Holyoke by 3-0 – Volleyball news
The Putnam Vocational high school volleyball team defeated the Holyoke boys volleyball team by 3-0 on Friday.
Playing with the added advantage of being in their home court, the Beavers were able to make a clean sweep over their opponents. By the time that the Beavers had started cheering their win along with the home fans, Holyoke were heading out of the court cradling
their disappointment.
With their recent win, the sixth ranked Putnam team has been able to improve their overall season number of wins to a figure of 13. These victories have been bagged at the cost of suffering losses that accumulate to be six so far.
As compared with the performance statistics of the beavers, the overall season record of Holyoke falls a bit pale. The number of times that Holyoke has had a winning experience equals to be nine. The number of times that Holyoke has been able to post losses
also amount to the same number as their wins, i.e. 9.
Next in line for the winning team is a match against the number three ranked Chicopee comp that is scheduled to be played on Tuesday. The quarterfinal match will be played at the home court of Chicopee. It will be a challenge to defeat Chicopee as they support
a much better overall season record than Putnam. The number of times that Chicopee has been able to register wins tally at a figure of 14. These victories have been secured at an impressively low cost of suffering losses that total to be 3 so far.
The first set of the match started with the Beavers taking the lead. This early lead put the pressure on Holyoke from the beginning of the set and thus their game was affected. Once they had the lead, the Beavers were able to extend their advantage. All
Holyoke could do was to trail behind while the beavers ended the first set of the match on their terms.
The second set began on the same notes as the first set. The beavers managed to take the lead early on and maintained it quite easily all through game. Holyoke could not stop the beavers from making another win that put Putnam at a two set advantage.
Holyoke stepped up their game and battled hard until the middle of the game. However, the Beavers managed to get the lead at 13-12. After this point, there was no stopping the beavers as they secured themselves the final set of the game.
Kayjuan Bynum of the beavers made the following comments about the performance of his team in their recent match, “we've definitely gotten better over the season. Things are starting to click now. We're working more as a team, and we're getting wins.”
