I had a wisdom tooth extracted on thursday Everything was fine and no pain apart from the usual jaw ache.

this is the first tooth i have had removed it is the lower right wisdom tooth.

today though i have been getting sharp random pains up to my ear and under my chin.

but worse of all the smell and taste from my mouth is like something is really rotten in there. is this to be expected? or could it be a sign of infection i also have a cracking headache.

  1. That all sounds about right. rinse your mouth out 3/4 times a day with warm salty water. Can't believe you were not told that. Read the leaflet they gave you about care of the mouth after extraction.

  2. that is normal for a few days but if it don't get better you need to call the dentist so you don't get an infection

  3. Get back to your dentist and have him prescribe some antibiotics.

  4. hahaha. you know what you have?

    IT'S CALLED FOOD :)

that's what happened to me, i was like wtf is this taste in my mouth. look into the holes where your teeth were, there will be gunk in there.

if you don't already have a plastic syringe to wash out the food in the hole, go back to your dentist and ask for one.

fill it with mouthwash and then rinse in there, and food will come out. it's amazing what can fit in that little hole  haha.

    chicken, pasta, the works.

for the headache, that is to be expected, just take the medication and take some naps, it helps subside the pain AND you get to sleep :)

for your jaws there has been some serious pushing and pulling so weird parts like underneath your ear or your chin may hurt from bruising. it'll go away. just ice.

  5. it sounds like you may have an infection, go back to your dentist asap.Have you been using salt water to rinse your mouth out, this helps to harden the gum and help with infection.Hope you get it sorted soon good luck.

  6. Go to the Dentist ASAP. You could have an infection or piece of tooth that is embedded in your gum which could cause a infection or abscess.

  7. the dentist usually tells you to gargle 24 hours after extraction, but if in doubt contact him again for advice,
