Question:

Putter question...?

I have a pretty expensive putter that I have liked to use all of my life. Recently, I have found that it is becoming a little bit too short (33") and I would like to know if I can bring it into a golf store and get it re-gripped and have them add an extra inch or so onto it to make it taller (34"). Is it possible to do so? If so, appx. how much would this cost?

  1. no big deal at all.  They will take off the old grip and put in the extension then put on a new grip.  Any time that you have a club extended you will have to get a new grip.  Not to big a deal with the putter but it will need to sit for a few hours before you use it.  Talk with the pro at the shop and he will get you all squared away.  Should not be more then $50.

  2. thoughtnot is right. Here's a good idea and I have done this twice because I can't stop cutting inches off of my putter. Go to a thrift store or second hand shop and buy a putter for like 5 bucks. heat up the hosel of the club with a blowtorch and take that shaft to the shop and ask them to put it on for you. It will cost you 10 bucks. 5+10= $15 and a couple of extra minutes at the thrift shop.

  3. Easily done with a shaft extension ($7) and a new grip ($5) and labor for a total cost of probably around $15.

  4. Yes.  You can either get the shaft extended up to one inch or have an entirely new shaft put on the putter head.  Cost can be anywhere up to $100 or more depending on the fitter and the shaft quality.

  5. go to ebay

  6. yes about 50.00

  7. Instead of asking us, go to the shop which does that type of extensions. Their price will be firm. If you don't like it find another club repairer. Very simple and no sweat.

  8. If you can't have a shaft extender and a new grip put on for $10, find another pro shop. If you went with a new shaft it shouldn't cost more than $25.

  9. If you want to do this right,  go to a club fitter and get fitted for a putter.  If yours does not fit then find out about an extension or new shaft.  The extension and grip will be relatively inexpensive.  If you need a new shaft it will cost more but they last a long time and it will be worth it.  Check out the new grips while you are there.  You will have a putter that fits your style and a grip that fits your hands.
