Putting 300 runs on board can earn India the second Test match, says Harbhajan Singh
Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that if http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
By the end of day two of the match at Kingsmead cricket ground, India had an overall lead of 166 runs with six wickets still in hand.
“Tomorrow is a big day,” said Singh to reporters after the end of the day’s play. “It is the day for us to level the series. Just need to have faith in our abilities. Back ourselves to score on this wicket.”
Singh is depending on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VVS-Laxman-c2772 and Cheteshwar Pujara, who are currently up to bat, to stay out long enough in the middle to pile up a solid score.
“We need to make sure we score more than 300,” he says. “If we do score more than 300, we definitely have a very good chance. If we bat well tomorrow we can definitely score a lot of runs. If you survive the first session we have
a great chance to win the Test match.”
After India scored 205 in their first innings, Singh and Zaheer Khan took seven wickets between them in South Africa’s first innings, sending the Proteas packing for a mere 131 runs. This gave India a 74-run first-innings lead.
Singh believes the Indian bowlers took full advantage of the moisture present in the pitch at the Kingsmead ground.
On day three of the match, India will be resuming from their overnight score of 92/4.
Update: On day three of the second Test, India were bowled out shortly after lunch for 228 runs. South Africa have begun their second innings, chasing a score of 303 to win. By stumps on day three, South Africa
were 111/3, with Jacques Kallis and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 in the middle.
