  1. My older cat was never interested in mirrors, nor did she appear to recognize that there was "another cat" looking back at her. I got a new kitty yesterday, and he was dancing around in front of the mirror. Every cat is different.

  2. Well, when my cat was a small kitten, the first time she saw her own reflection, she basically flipped out! She does that famous Halloween cat post and try to scare her reflection away! It was priceless. But as she grows older, she doesn't care much for it, just like your cat. It appears that she knows the cat in the mirror is not threatening and she just leaves it alone.

Cat rely heavily on scent to communicate and since the reflection in the mirror does not emit any unfamiliar scent, they tend to ignore and move on. Other theory says that a cat tries to avoid confrontation. That is why when the cat sees anyone cat head on, the cat will try to not look at each other. It's good kitty manners not to hold eye contact, as this is usually the first sign of aggression/submission is cats.

    Hope this helps!

  3. None of my cats are particularly interested in mirrors, one does love to be held up to the mirror so she can gaze at herself while I'm scratching her head though....so vain!

  4. my kitten loves looking in the mirror she always runs around the back to try to find the other kitten (her reflection) it is sooo cute.
