Putting Video Camera vids on my Macbook?

I have a "Cannon HG10" High-Def video camera and The software that came with it is for window so I couldn't put it on my macbook. When I plug in the camera to my computer it makes all my vids into pictures of the first shot of the vid. How to I get the whole vid on my computer?

Hopefully you are using a  firewire cable. If you aren't, you need one. all you need to do is plug it in with the firewire cable, turn on iMovie and it will work automatically.
