Putting beer and listerine on roses...?

my brother told me to do this and there was one more thing to mix, he won't speak to me right now , so does anyone else know? actually i couldn't wait and went with the beer and listerine. but i still want to know the other thing,and i will do it again.

Don't s***w around with your plants.  Their are fungicides, bug controls, and fertilizers, made by Scotts, Ortho, Miracle Gro and Bayer all that control problems with roses.  

This is a case of somebody getting carried away with organics.

This sounds like one of those goofy Jerry Baker concoctions.  

If your roses are having problems, there are many fine products available, both organic and chemical, that will help the insect or fungus problems.  Stick with what works and avoid the hokey mixtures.  

Putting beer on your plants would be a waste of good beer.
