Question:

Putting my Nikon dslr 80 on a tote bag?

I just bought my Nikon d80 last week and I don't have the bag for it so I was wondering if putting it on a tote bag wouldn't harm the camera. I won't have anything else on my totebag just the camera itself cause I'm really scared since it's new and I don't want it to get any scratches like what happened to this lady's camera.

Btw this is how my totebag looks like

do you think putting my Nikon d80 in there

wouldn't cause any damages to my camera?

Cause I'm not gonna put anything else

inside and just only the camera.

Please reply asap thanks.

  1. I use to carry my Nikon D100 on a regular backpack (not the camera back pack that I also have from Lowepro) because I was traveling and I don't want people to know I was carrying SLR camera in my bag. I placed foam or sometimes towel around the camera and I did not have any problems with scratches or any damage to my camera.

Sometimes the best camera bags are regular bags with foam or towel padding so that you are not advertising to thieves you have a nice camera with you.

  2. HI Flo.  Congrats on your new camera purchase.   Well, the very first advice I am going to give you is to get the LCD/Monitor protective strips. (Like transparent tape which protects the monitor from scratching)  I don't get a new camera out of the box for longer than 5 minutes before I put the protection on the LCD screen.   I know that camera cases / bags are EXpensive.  The best ones cost as much as $300.00... cheapest  can be $49.00.   You really do need to protect your camera so look around the house for somehting that could work better than a tote.   Do you have a padded lap-top case?  One of the smallest  Igloos that you could put padding all around?   If you cannot afford one of the camera cases...  you might also think of checking out a Salvation Army or Good Will or Thrift store in you area.  Sometimes they do have camera bags for $8.00,  but even if they don't,  they have all kinds of cases, purses, containers that you can choose from for practically nothing.   Take care of that camera.  :))

  3. I woulds put it in a bag with more padding or enclose it in something quilted then put it in your bag.  I would hate to ruin a good investment
