Anthropologists do it all the time, analysing places in far off lands, for the most part. I'd like to see what you have to say about your own place.

Thanks!

  1. Ever seen the movie idiocracy, that would define Michigan in a whole quite well.  I can barely say that our state even fits into any type of anthropology being as anthropology assumes that all cultures are equal and at least mentally this state nowhere nearly meets that requirement at least mentally.

  2. Leave the heroics to us, Ma'am. That was my Fireman's hat.

  3. "Move along, folks. There's nothing to see here. Keep moving."

Oh, wait . . .  Oops, that was my policeman's hat.

    Sorry . . .

Maidu Indians have lived in this region for appx.1500 years...

They were known to fish for salmon, eat wild clover from the fields in the spring, as well as grasshoppers, dipped in honey.

They survived cohabiting this area with Grizzly Bears and Mountain Lions, though the deer were plentiful, and still are...

Primarily Caucasians from around the world came here in 1850, in search of gold. The rest is history...

  5. Black Belt

The  highly cultured Mississippian Mound Builders influenced by European barbarians and misplaced  Africans have evolved into a culture of Rednecks and Homies.

  6. If I were to "dig up" where I live now, I could very easily be misled as to what type of place it is. It currently and has since the 30's been and important area for science, tech and medicine and yet we have nearly a 1000 churches for a population of around 280,000 people.

It could also be mi staked as a purely agricultural society considering it was founded by farmers and slowly changed to a center for science and medicine. It has a strong religious base here despite it's strong scientific Bering.

There is evidence for occupation of this region for as far back as 10,000 - to 14,000 years ago. Native American Groups use to hunt buffalo and migrate through here regualary. (14,0000 is a bit controversial but that is what the dating shows)

  7. Hills...Beaches...Its hard to tell this area is all developed.
