Barcelona will be taking on Milan, who were Puyol’s favourite opponents in the European competition, and he has stated that he will simply love to play against the Italian giants.
When http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331 was asked who he would like to face in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, the Catalan centre-back answered back with AC Milan.
The seven-time European champions are definitely a side any team would look forward to and big teams like Barcelona look forward to playing other big clubs in order to dominate the world of football.
When the draws were taken out on 20th of December, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 were drawn against AC Milan, just like the Catalan captain wanted.
Puyol was asked how he feels about the draws and why he wanted the Italian giants to play against Barcelona in the European competition.
“I am very happy. I said the other week that I wanted Milan, but because they are easy, but because I’ve always liked them. It is going to be a very nice tie.”
“Our familiarity with Milan? It is neither good nor bad. We know each other but also some of the other rivals. And those we don’t we study.”
The Catalan captain also spoke about the other big draw in the UEFA Champions League – Real Madrid versus the Premier League giants, Manchester United.
Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’s men are currently on song and are also the favourites to not only win the Premier League title but also the UEFA Champions League.
However, Real Madrid are also going to prove to be tough opponents for the Premier League giants.
“Manchester United and Real Madrid are two of the best teams in Europe. All the matches will be difficult, but for me the Spanish remain the favourites.”
There have been other interesting draws in the UEFA Champions League, which includes the game between http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and Bayern Munich; also, the game between Malaga and the Portuguese giants, Porto.
However, Puyol stated that there is still a long way to go in these games, even though they are complicated.
“The knockout games are always very complicated. Anyway, it is a long way away.”
