The Catalan defender has taken out time to rally his teammates to concentrate on their next opponents to the fullest.
Barcelona captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331, has urged his side to put the Clasico loss behind them and look forward to their Champions League semi-final clash against English Premier League side, Chelsea.
The veteran defender expressed that the current UEFA Champions League title holders can't afford to worry about the previous result.
Puyol emphasized that the match against Chelsea is a must-win fixture for the Spanish giants.
Pep Guardiola’s side suffered a heavy blow as their ambitions of success in the Spanish La Liga were shattered after they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of their fiercest rivals Real Madrid on Saturday.
The much-anticipated El Clasico represented an opportunity for the Catalans to tear open the Liga BBVA title race; however, Jose Mourinho’s men gave them no room to perform as good as they were expected to.
Even though the match took place at the Nou Camp, La Blaugrana could only find the back of the net once during the entire 90 minutes.
Currently, the Catalan giants are preparing to host Chelsea in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final. Having lost the first leg of the fixture with a score of 1-0, the second leg presents the Catalan giants with an opportunity to book a place
in the final of the coveted competition.
Considering the fact that Barca have lost their last two games consecutively, there is a certain sense of anxiety looming over the Nou Camp since a defeat against Chelsea could see their hopes about a successful season torn to shreds.
While talking to reporters, the Barca skipper was quoted as saying:
"We now have to focus on Tuesday. It’s a competition we are keen to win and we are close to another final. We have to be very aware of their counter attacks. I can see it being a similar game tactically to the Madrid match.”
"It would be a very attractive final if we meet Madrid again. We’d have to see what would happen then, but for now we are focusing on Tuesday."
Can Barcelona eliminate Chelsea and play their second consecutive Champions League final? We can only wait and find out.
