Puzzel Math Question? =))))?

Question

This problem is for a math class for elementary school teachers.

I need help with it!

The problem is a word puzzle.

Here it is:

..SEND

+MORE=

MONEY

You have to turn it into a number problem.

The givens are:

M=1

O=0

For whoever figures it out first will get best answer!!!

Uh....teaching multiplcation by zero I guess

SEND + MORE = MONEY

Well, SEND woudl stay the same but MORE and MONEY would become zero since they have zero in their multiplication forms.  That means that SEND = zero as well since its the only thing left

Is this supposed to help someone....seems confusing to me.....

Or is it supposed to be some kind of code where you find unknown numbers for the letters?  Answer would still be the same
