Puzzle in chess ..please help?

in a chess board, we assume 8 soldiers as 8 queens

and we have to place all the 8 queens in such a way that one queen does not defeat the others .........i need the answer please

  1. That's the eight queens puzzle.  See the link.

    The key idea is to set the queens a knights-move away from each other.  That way, they're real close but can't capture.


  2. It's a very interesting puzzle and I'd advise you to draw an 8x8 square on a piece of paper and attempt to think through it, and if that fails, take out the chessboard and play around with the pieces. It's much better if you figure it out for yourself.
