Pv330 cant edit in windows movie maker

Question

have been using a helmet cam to record getting great results but when i try and edit the movies in windows movie maker i do a edit at the start and movie maker stalls sometimes shuts down, i get a grey screen in the edit lline i have tried downloading codec after codec, can any body point me in the right direction. thanks alot
