Pvgs80 Camcorder help?

How do I upload my videos onto my mac? Do I need a software? The place where I plug the cord to, is also the place where the battery goes but I need to take the battery off to plug the cord in. When I plug the cord in, nothing pops up on the screen. Why? Help!

  1. The Panasonic PV-GS80 is a miniDV tape based camcorder. You need a fireire port on your computer and a firewire cable that will connect the camcorder DV port to the computer's firewire port.

    Firewire, IEEE1394a and i.Link are all the same thing.

    The camcorder needs to be in Play mode.

    When you use Firewire, nothing will pop up on the screen. If you are using Windows, launch MovieMaker and "capture" the video. If you are using A Macintosh, launch iMovie and "import" the video.

    USB will not work - it is used only for still picture transfer from a memory card or for webstreaming.


  2. your vcam power set-up may be:

    from plugged electrical source, the current may go to a charger, which in turn re-charges the battery power. So, if the battery is not attached, current does not go inside vcam.

    to upload videos, you may need a video capture or video editing software- imovie
