Pybus confident he has necessary experience for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 job – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Richard-Alexander-Pybus-c84844 is confident that he has the experience and know-how required to do justice to his new post as the coach for Bangladesh’s national cricket team.
Pybus, who began coaching in his mid-twenties after a series of injuries put an end to his chances at a cricketing career, has served as coach of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 national team twice – ahead of the 1999 and 2003 World Cup campaigns.
The 47-year-old has been heavily involved in the South African domestic circuit, as coach of the provincial side Border (which was his first coaching role), and has also served as coach of two franchises – the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Titans-c856 (from 2005 to 2007) and the Cobras. He
has won a combined total of eight trophies with both teams (including two victories in the MTN Domestic Championship) and has been awarded the Coach of the Year award by Cricket South Africa (CSA), making him arguably the most successful coach in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757’s
domestic circuit.
“Working in Africa helps you understand a lot of things. You are surrounded by diversity and multiculturalism,” Pybus said in an interview with
ESPNcricinfo, prior to his departure for Dhaka. “Working with the franchises also helps, you learn about what it takes to win and how to build winning teams and winning mindsets. I worked with two franchises with a lot of international players and
we did very well.”
In addition to his stints with domestic teams, Pybus has also served as coach of the Pakistan national team twice. He first took up the post in 1999, and left after an argument with the management, only to return and coach the national side once more for
the 2003 World Cup campaign. That particular stint is another experience which Pybus is convinced has given him a deeper insight into the South Asian culture.
“In Pakistan, I gained a lot of cultural understanding because you can make faux pas if you are naïve,” he said.
His appointment as the Tigers’ coach is Bangladesh’s third coaching change in less than a year. Former coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Grant-Law-c91460 stepped down from the post in April this year, citing family issues as the reason behind his resignation. He only retained the post for
a period of nine months, having taken over from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Darren-Siddons-c65582 in July last year.
