Python: learn or rewrite in Java?

Question

I am a Java programmer and I have a small utility program that is written in Python that needs some minor mods. From someone from a Java/C/C++ background Python looks weird.

Should I attempt to learn Python (beginners level would probably do) and fix it or rewrite the thing in Java? It is open source/GPL so in either case I will have to publish my changes.

I think you should change to Python because for a Java/C programmer, it would be actually easier to learn Python as Python is very similar to C only simpler. The code will be much cleaner and it will come in handy in the future.
