how much discretion are lawyers afforded when denying people picked from the electoral roll from being part of the jury? eg do they have to justify to the judge why someone shouldnt be allowed on it?

also, what happens if the lawyers for the plaintiff & the defendant disagree about who should & shouldnt be allowed on the jury??

  1. Lawyers for both sides can eliminate three or four potential jurors from a jury pool, depending on local statutes, without giving a reason for the elimination.  After that, the pick is pretty much random.

  2. Lawyers can decide that they dont want you based on just the color of your eyes. Each lawyer gets a certain amount of challenges so sometimes you get picked and sometimes you dont. If either one challenges, the juror is not selected.
