Question:

Q for Christians: Are there any scriptures in the bible that suggest an individual is absent of choice?

Meaning any scriptures that support the idea that God demands [against freewill] that an individual believe in Him? I realize that there are instances where he makes compelling arguments, as in the case with Saul on the road to Damascus, but Saul was still free to accept or reject God's proposal. Are there instances where God interferes with the process of freewill regarding making the choice to believe or not?

  1. I do not believe that there are any such instances.  That is the beauty of our Lord, He has given us all free will.

Just a thought, not scripture or anything...if someone is possessed by a demon do they still have free will?

  2. God always gives us a choice.

But when we have committed to Christ as our Lord & Savior while believing He raised from the dead; then we still can choose.  But we still reap what we sow. Sow death, reap death. Sow life, reap life.

God will not be mocked. We reap what we sow. And when a Christian gets into willful disobedience, then will be disciplined by God. We have a choice to disobey, but Godly discipline is never pleasant.

The incident convinced Paul. So, he wasn't healed of his being blinded by the light until the Minister came to him & prayed for him.  So if he didn't convert to faith in Jesus, then he would have remained blind.

  3. I would look for any verses that refer to God's foreknowledge, omniscience or predestination.  Any of those things would destroy the idea of free will and make us just actors in the cosmic theatre.
