Q for scientists: What effect does the hole in the ozone layer have on our oxygen and thus on us?

Not looking for comments about skin cancer, etc.; am already aware of that. Am looking for broader or more basic effects. Thanks.

The hole in the ozone layer is perfectly normal and has been happening for millions of years. The ozone layer is created where the solar winds collide with the earth's magnetic field .It is so high it is the very edge of space very few gases are light enough to get that high. The holes are blown in the ozone layer like this. In the solar winds there are 2 parts that concerns us . The first is the Beta particle or free electron that is attracted to the north pole and makes it negative. Then there is the Alfa particle that is attracted to the south pole and make it positive . This is what supplies the power to ionize this layer. This holds the O3 in place to protect us. There is a little trick that Mother nature pulls on us . I call it the automatic ozone repair cycle. If the O3 gets a little thin a small amount of Alfa particles pass through and radiate some high nitrogen and trans mutate the nitrogen into oxygen .

Actually, there is no proof that the hole in the Ozone was even caused by us. There is also no proof that it hasn't always been there.

The hole in the Ozone does not directly affect the level of oxygen in our atmosphere.

What it DOES do is allows more UV light through to the surface, increasing the chances for cancers and other genetic mutations in plant and animal life.
