ok - garden tools -

1. the steel was of better quality and is stronger.

2. the wooden handles can be replaced

3. the broken wooden handles break down and compost so dont add to the landfill

Flax/hemp

4. better for the planet - native plant that doesnt deplete the soil

5.processing doesnt account for millions of death every year like the cotton industry

6. every part of the plant has a use

Can we switch back? - i like finding old tools in reclamation yards and using them, they feel better and i feel a sense of connection between them and the earth.

Start growing the old crops again, cant see a reason why not.

Using olden items can slow us down - which i think is what we need. My washing machine has broken down - i am having to handwash and use my old mangle, i can feel how unfit i am when i attempt this! but my young children aged almost 6 and 3 and i are doing it all together. It is involving my children and we are having a much closer and more enriching time than bunging the clothes in the machine and just hanging them out together.
