  1. 1:  They continue because they are recessive, and thus can transcend generations without being apparent.  Then, if by some rare chance they are placed together, the offspring gets them.

    3: Genes are cloned to try and research what genetic combinations are harmful and which ones are beneficial.  It can be used to cure diseases, like Alzheimer's and CF.

  2. 1. because sometimes the alleles are recessive. a person might be a carrier for the disease without actually being affected by it.
