QB Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts upbeat about rookie’s fitness efforts-NFL News
Indianapolis Colts’ rookie quarterback, Andrew Luck, is expected to return to the squad on June 8, 2012, as the team continues its workout activities in his absence.
The player is attending his Stanford College to finish remaining courses on his architectural design degree. He said he will finish the course on June 7 and report his availability to the team very next day.
In spite of staying away from the team’s headquarters, Luck is aware about the requirement of remaining fit and into shape, and to achieve that he has continued his training with his teammates at the college facility.
Tight end Coby Fleener, and wide receiver, Griff Whalen, who are attending the college along with Luck are also on Colts’ roster.
Colts too have said to remain conscious to the player’s fitness need and are in constant contact with him to keep him and themselves abreast about all related developments at the two ends.
Colts’ head coach, Chuck Pagano, said he speaks to Luck frequently and is happy with the fact that the player is working on his fitness along with studies.
According to the coach:
"He does football in the morning, he stays on top of stuff. I just talked to him last night, and it's killing him not to be here."
As the coach has sounded in his statement, Colts are not worried about Luck missing the team’s activities, though they are anxious to see him back with teammates at earliest.
Luck himself is keen on returning to the side so much that he said to be with the team the next day he finishes his course.
Irrespective of their desperation for reunion, both sides have no solution to the National Football League (NFL) rules, which bar a rookie from participating in any team activity except for rookies’ minicamp until he finishes his college courses.
Owing to the rules, Luck had to depart from Indianapolis after a short stay in the city and participation in the rookies’ camp, where he could hardly know all his teammates and team officials.
