QB Andrew Luck vs Robert Griffin III: Indianapolis QB says no time for commercial life – NFL News
While Washington Redskins’ rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III is seen in a whole range of advertisements all over the United States, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is nowhere but in the town as far as marketing of the two players is concerned, but
Luck has excused himself saying he has no time for self-promotion.
There is no doubt Andrew is a star player as he was on top of this year’s draft and has so far shown to be a quality talent. He has said that he has no time for marketing but this alone is not a justifiable reason in front of the number of ads Griffin is
doing and he is still very much on the field, available for all Redskins' games.
Some independent comments emerging in perspective of Luck’s denied failure in attracting more advertisements is that the Colts are not on-air through the preseason or otherwise, while the Redskins are covered almost around-the-clock and all over America.
This explains why Griffin has become so popular in the marketing circles – they have far reaching coverage of their products and services – in spite of the fact that he still has to prove himself on the field and certainly has a long way to go to assume
a Tim Tebow type cult status, and to be in so much demand.
Luck on the other hand has shown he is a promising talent and can take lesser time than his predecessor Peyton Manning to become a star in the future. Once he is popular, attracting advertisers will not be an issue for him – the folks are well known for making
hey while star (exactly sun) is shining, and running away after it sets down.
In the meantime, the QB has adopted a laidback approach, saying he is more focused to things on hand.
According to him:
"I really didn't have much time. And I wanted to make sure I had time to handle the stuff that mattered, whether it was moving into an apartment, finishing school or learning the playbook. There was so much going on, I figured the less time I spent promoting
myself or doing ads, the better for me. I figured I'd wait and hopefully, at some point, a big fish will come along.”
He still appreciates his counterpart’s commercial success at such a tender pro career age.
