QB Andrew Luck warily sounds confident for pro start in Indianapolis Colts vs Chicago Bears – NFL News
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has sounded to be ready and confident to start his pro career in the game against the Chicago Bears this Sunday but admitted the opener will not be an easy game to start with especially if Bears’ formidable defensive
star linebacker Brian Urlacher is on the line.
Andrew, who now has the preseason experience to rely on, did not look hundred percent and in spite of the efforts to portray a positive posture in the pregame media talk the famous signs of the rookie’s appearance appeared to be clear on his face.
The rookie said:
"I'm very excited. What a great way to kick things off with a great challenge. It'll be tough sledding to get yards, to get points. I couldn't be more excited. It's a wonderful opportunity to go up against a lot of players who arguably are the best at their
position and play at a high level. It will be a great measuring stick, per se."
About facing Brian, he said:
"I think you have to pay attention to whether he plays or not. That's one of the best ever, if not the best middle linebacker. We'll definitely be aware of him.”
So while there are strong hopes in the team for straightaway success of Andrew, some commentators expect fumbles and mistakes being committed by the rookie, which they think should serve him in gaining confidence and improvement in the longer run.
According to the analysts, the player faces pressure of higher expectations, given he is replacing former star Peyton Manning; the team is aiming to come out of the miserable record of last season; it is a new beginning for the QB himself and he has already
been hailed as a future star.
Therefore, there is a possibility that he succumbs to the pressure and fails, they said but insisted it will have a positive impact on his career in the longer run. Failing once will increase his confidence as he will then not worry about tasting failure
or losing anything and this is the point where a player starts building on his confidence.
He nevertheless is the main and probably only hope for Jim Irsay to help his franchise turn around.
