QB Blaine Gabbert falls back into gloom as Jacksonville Jaguars collapse – NFL News
Jacksonville Jaguars second-year quarterback Blaine Gabbert has returned to the same old miserable form he had shown during his rookie appearance in the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season, in fact, proving even worse in some areas
this time.
A total of 53 yards for 7 completed out of 19 passes was not a performance the Jaguars had anticipated from the offence leader – and they were the fewest yards the player has ever achieved in his career so far.
This of course did not serve the cause of the team who ended up the entire game with only seven points against the opposition Houston Texans’ 27 points. The record was more rueful for coach Mike Mularkey who had snubbed all the criticism
while joining the team as a head coach earlier this year and persisted with Blaine as the offence leader.
Little pocket presence, missing receivers and hurried throws were some of common and repeated mistakes of the quarterback on the day.
He can possibly get away with an excuse that this was one bad day after his remarkable performance in the last game but again this is the weaker link in his progression that he is not consistent.
Apparently, he did not have much to say about his performance of the day except trying to make it look like a team failure, which in a sense is justifiable because the Jaguars failed themselves in all departments.
He said:
“We've got a little momentum there but we just couldn't keep it. - No question. The bunch of fighters in the locker room and that's that's what we've made it here. We're down right now or about. The that's the nature of the game NFL got
to bring your - game every Sunday. Regardless what have we before and we've been very in the which team. Is no question. We shot ourselves in the foot. You can execute a consistent basis you know can do well.”
Gabbert was lucky at the end to ease back on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, which could have provided him a chance for some sort of face-saving, but it was only a matter of a game or two. In reality, he is yet to show credentials
or potential to be an elite QB in the league.
