QB Chad Henne gives Jacksonville Jaguars hope for revival of league’s worst offence – NFL News
Chad Henne, who had an out of blue opportunity to replace Jacksonville Jaguars’ offence leader Blaine Gabbert a game earlier to prove his potential for a possible starter, has shown some guts as a leader consistently well for the second game.
Henne played as a backup for failing Gabbert for nearly nine games before having an opportunity to lead the offence about three quarters of the game 10 and led the line so impressively well that coach Mike Mularkey named him as the team’s offence starter
for the next game.
It was before confirmation of Gabbert’s injury to be rather a serious one, which required a surgery and the player is less likely to play in the rest of the season.
With Gabbert out Henne had some boost to confidence for having control of the entire offence in his hands and gave another confident performance in the team’s victorious tie against undisciplined Tennessee Titans, who failed to capitalise on fumbles and
fouls and eased down to a convenient loss.
This was first game for Henne on the starting line, and he has earned some respectable views from onlookers and coach. Although the player is too young, he has the potential to be trained and groomed in the longer run.
It is remarkable for the new offensive leader that he has won the game for his side during his very first appearance at the helm of offence affairs.
He certainly has many more opportunities to prove himself, as with Blaine out for the rest of the season, he still has five more games to go in the regular season, which might be the only phase that the Jags can go far.
With the Houston Texans leading the American Football Conference (AFC) South division 10-1 and Indianapolis Colts trailing behind 7-4, the Jags with only two wins are at bottom of the division and it will be difficult for them to make the playoffs this season.
It nevertheless presents a chance to win a few more games to young Henne to help the side to come at par with past year’s level of 5-11, which appears to be rather difficult, but not impossible.
