QB Drew Brees tired of talking about New Orleans Saints bounty scandal - NFL News
After being inundated with leaks, blames, complaints and damning videos about the bounty scandal since March, many fans will by now have become tired of hearing about the New Orleans Saints scandal every day.
Don’t worry it seems Saints quarterback, Drew Brees, shares your point of view as well.
He said in a recent interview with David Letterman that he is tired of hearing and talking about the bounty scandal and now just wants to see the National Football League (NFL) to put out all the facts and punish the players if they are guilty or clear them
if not.
Brees said:
"I'll be honest with you, and I think I can speak for all fans in America for that matter, we are tired of hearing about it.”
Adding further he let out a mini-rant and said:
"We don't want to talk about it anymore. Put forth the facts, the truth, and if indeed there was a pay-to-injure scheme, then people will get punished, and if there's not, then let's exonerate these men because, at this point, it seems like it's a smear
campaign. We're dragging them through the mud, we're ruining their reputations and careers with no true evidence."
The quarterback has been a strong opponent of the bounty scandal punishments handed down by NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, to both the Saints players and coaches.
Brees has repeatedly questioned the NFL investigation and has dismissed the information given by the league regarding the bounty scandal as nothing which definitely proves that players took money for injuring opponents.
He also had dismissed the league’s findings in a previous interview as nothing and based mostly on “hearsay” and “hypotheticals”.
The NFL has suspended two current Saints players, Jonathan Vilma and Will Smith in addition to former Saints players, Anthony Hargrove and Scott Fujita for their alleged leadership roles in the bounty scandal.
With news coming out about the bounty scandal with each passing day it is not surprising that both fans and players have had enough of the word “bounty” to last a lifetime.
More news about the Saints bounty scandal is likely to come out soon and the day when the scandal is firmly put in the past is still far off.
