QB Jake Locker’s shoulder injury worries Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak – NFL News
It is only four games to start of the 2012 National Football League (NFL) season and Tennessee Titans’ first-year starting quarterback Jake Locker is injured twice, making rather an unsafe and insecure start to his professional career as an offence leader.
Locker hurt his left shoulder in the first quarter of the Titans’ 14-38 loss to the hosts Houston Texans on Sunday (September 30) and witnessed the rest of the game from the sidelines benched in casual clothing and injured arm in a sling.
The incident occurred at the time the QB was sacked by Texans safety Glover Quin. Locker said he did not see the safety coming otherwise he could have done something for his protection.
Later, coach Mike Munchak confirmed that the player was sore on the shoulder and that he will have an MRI scan on Monday to determine gravity of the injury and set forth a possible timeline for his recovery and return.
It is pertinent to mention that the QB had suffered an injury on the same shoulder in the opening game of the season versus New England Patriots but did not require a longer period for recovery and was straight back into the side from next game.
Although an official statement was awaited until the time of filing this report, a possibility of a serious injury cannot be ruled out given the injury has occurred twice at the same place. The player might need some precaution to avoid risking it again
for the rest of the season.
The injury scare is not a good development at the start of his career as an offence leader. Any longer absence from the field will further mar the leader’s chances to retain the leadership role.
Second-year coach Mike Munchak is already displeased with the Titans’ poor run this season, after having made an impressive debutant start last year. It is now to be seen how the team progresses for the rest of the season. They still have got 12 more games
to play and have an opportunity to make up for the lost chances.
