QB Joe Flacco aims for new deal from Baltimore Ravens with next season on mind – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens' quarterback (QB), Joe Flacco, said on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, that he deserved a new deal from his team, with next season on his mind.
Flacco, who outplayed New England Patriots’ QB, Tom Brady, in their American Football Conference (AFC) championship game on Sunday, January 22, 2012, had come closer to helping his side score a win over the Patriots.
The chance was lost by their wide receiver, Lee Evans, who could not properly catch the perfectly thrown ball by Flacco.
This was another perfect season for the QB who has been consistently throwing for over 3600 yards for last three consecutive years, respectively.
Joe Flacco, who has been making headlines throughout the season for a number of his reservations, was asked if would like a new contract from the team.
He replied in definite yes. "We'll see how it goes. If it goes, it goes. If it doesn't, it doesn't," he added.
"I've said it all along: I think I'm the quarterback that I am," he said.
"I think the first four years that I've played here, we've gone to the playoffs every time (and) won a game. I think the last two years that I've played in the playoffs, I've played well in the playoffs."
The player is due to go free agent by end of the 2012 National Football League (NFL) season and wants renewal of his deal at the team, apparently silent on it so far.
Joe is one of the veterans who have been at the team for many past years and had a huge role in their wins for last four successive seasons.
Ravens have made it to the playoff round of the NFL for four consecutive years. Flacco had been the main highlight of their offence. They were much dependent on their defence, otherwise.
Flacco had earlier been complaining that he was not being given due credit in the wins of his team as all the credit to their defence had overshadowed the offensive line’s contribution.
Now he has again spoken out on the issue of his deal with his team. The new season will begin in September and the QB is expected to get a decision.
This is another opportunity for media to ride on the Flacco hype. They have been doing so for his outbursts throughout the regular season and since.
The Ravens 2011 NFL run was finished with the AFC North division title, playoff by and a perfect home record. It was for the first time since 2008 that the team has played a playoff game, which they won against the Houston Texans.
It was yet again that they failed themselves in their aims for Super Bowl in the postseason.
