QB Joe Flacco not concerned about getting a deal with Baltimore Ravens, says agent – NFL News
After resolving the deal matter of their Pro Bowl running back Ray Rice on Monday, July 16, 2012, Baltimore Ravens are looking to make advancements towards a deal with their quarterback Joe Flacco.
Similarly, Flacco is also looking forward to reach an agreement.
Flacco is into last year of his current contract and will be eagerly anticipating a deal now.
Yet according to his agent Joe Linta, Flacco is currently just focusing towards giving a better performance in the upcoming season.
He was talking to the Carroll County Times on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. He said:
"Joe is very, very excited for the season," He said. "He's really adamant about getting the Ravens to the next step. The contract, at this point, is secondary to that goal. Joe has the attitude that he'll earn it."
Flacco has been phenomenal throughout his career with Ravens. He was drafted by Ravens in first round (18th overall pick) of the 2008 draft.
He played all the games in his rookie season and completed 2,971 yards along with 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
He went on to win two playoff games, becoming the only first rookie in the league history to do that.
After a sensational rookie season, Flacco carried on his good performance. Ever since he entered the league, Flacco has never missed a single game throughout his entire professional career.
Last season, he covered 3,610 yards getting 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. For that, he got a quarterback rating of 80.9.
Flacco is very important for Ravens defence. He has covered more passing yards for Ravens than anyone. His 80 touchdowns are also the highest in the franchise history.
Recently, it was reported by the media that talks have been going on between Flacco and Ravens’ vice president Pat Moriarty in which “major obstacles” were to be solved.
Yet Linta does not think that things are that worse. He said:
"We've had great conversations, and we're going to keep talking. Everything is good. We're going to keep talking, keep the lines of communication open."
Flacco is vital for Ravens progress in the next few years and they know that. They will be looking to get this deal done as soon as possible.
