QB Joe Flacco says no worries as Baltimore Ravens unmoved on deal demand-NFL News
Baltimore Ravens are no way closer to start the process of negotiations on the pending deal issue of their quarterback, Joe Flacco, and for the first time, the player conceded the matter to be out of his hands.
Flacco, who has been a part of the team’s entire offseason training activities, has resigned to the approach to take the situation as it develops.
It remains contrary to his earlier outspoken attitude when he in one of his remarks rated himself to be the best QB of the league and sounded warnings of skipping organised team activities (OTAs) in favour of a new and expensive deal.
He then showed up at the OTAs without any problem whatsoever, from the very first day and participated throughout.
Now the QB says he has accepted to leave the matter on its own while a local newspaper report on the weekend claimed that Ravens were nowhere closer to even start talking his deal matter.
Ravens seem to focus the pertaining deal of running back, Ray Rice, who has opted out of OTAs to press his expensive long-term contract demand.
Flacco said of the situation:
“I'm not worried about it at all. It's either going to get done or it's not. It's not really up to me."
The stance is rather unusual to Flacco’s nature as he is well capable of triggering debates and controversies by his claims, which are shallow most of the time.
Back on the field, Flacco has some endorsements from offensive coordinator, Cam Cameron, who is said to be impressed by the offseason consistency of the player.
Flacco’s new boss, quarterbacks coach, Jim Caldwell, had too spoken of having some plans for the QB.
Although the new coach insists he does not intend to train Flacco to be the next Peyton Manning, he sees him to be an equally talented player but with different skill set and strategy.
With the training camp around the corner and Ravens unmoved on Flacco’s deal demand, the entire situation remains in uncertainty with regard to future relationship between the stakeholders.
Some commentators believe there is no need to press the panic button at the moment given Flacco’s flexible attitude. There is a very remote chance of him sitting out of the training camp, they said.
