QB Joe Flacco upbeat as Baltimore Ravens head for no-huddle offence – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens’ coach John Harbaugh has insisted to stick to the plan of switching to ‘no-huddle’ offence this season in spite of facing the problem of over-age starters on the offensive line.
John said the team had planned for the up-tempo offence and they will remain persistent with it this season no matter what problems they face.
One important and positive development for the team, and more for the coach, is that they have received a nod from quarterback Joe Flacco, who sounded to have been waiting for it to happen.
The coach said:
"That's something that we have been practicing from the beginning, so obviously, that's going to be a big part of what we do."
He did not elaborate on the projected starters. Bobbie Williams and Matt Birk are above 35 and might be struggling to adapt to the faster or run-focused offence.
Flacco on the other hand is upbeat about the change. He said of it:
"I love the no-huddle. We've got to get quicker and quicker at it. I like to go up there and run a play, run a play, run a play. That's what we're going to be, and I think we have to make sure we get it as fast as we can."
Although the QB’s performance will prove his readiness for the new offence, his willingness to accept is nevertheless good news for the team. Any sign of resistance or resentment could not have helped the cause of the team to adopt the change.
Flacco’s record shows he is alright with the run-focused offence. In the plays, which can be labelled as ‘no-huddle’ offence, he has managed 32 of total 52 passes, measuring for 302 yards. He was intercepted once.
Apart from concerns about the age factor, Ravens are hopeful of achieving better results under the transformed offensive scheme. Their performance in the preseason can be used as a time to test credibility of the new offensive strategy, but as said by the
coach, the team nevertheless is heading for applying the change during the season, from its start next month. There is no alternative to it.
