QB Mark Sanchez extends invites to New York Jets teammates for passing camp - NFL News
Team chemistry and teamwork are two things the New York Jets need to work on very hard in the offseason after their last campaign was infamously knocked off its rails due to infighting among players.
Public feuds between quarterback, Mark Sanchez and wide receiver, Santonio Holmes, showed everyone the dysfunctional nature of the Jets locker room.
That indiscipline is something the team is working hard to fix in the upcoming season and Sanchez himself has taken up the baton to get his offence back on the same page.
Earlier in the offseason the quarterback buried the hatchet with Holmes and the two spent a lot of time together working out.
To get team synergy back in the offence, Sanchez has now invited all players on the offence over to Southern California’s Mission Viejo High School for his “Jets West” passing camp that will take place in a few weeks.
For the past two seasons since joining the franchise, Sanchez has always setup his own personal training camp to help the offence get on the same page and practice plays that he would like to use in the upcoming season.
The camp is held between the team’s minicamp and the Jets training camp.
According to the New York Daily News, new Jets quarterback, Tim Tebow, has also been extended the invitation to participate in the passing camp which he has accepted and he will join Sanchez in California to work on the offence.
Tebow brought in by the Jets in the current offseason from the Denver Broncos, has been touted as a backup to Sanchez and will help run the Jets newly installed Wildcat package.
However, speculation persists that Tebow will be challenging for the starting position and will eventually replace Sanchez something the Jets have persistently refuted.
Other players in addition to Tebow have also accepted the invitation and third string quarterback, Greg McElroy who will also be participating is excited to spend time with his teammates.
Speaking to the New York Daily News, he said.
"It's just so important to spend time together as much as possible. It's a good opportunity for us to get out of our element and do something social as a group with the benefit of working and great weather. It's really a good time for us. It's a lot of football
and a lot of fun."
Tebow and Sanchez have gotten well with each other throughout the offseason and hopefully that camaraderie will continue.
