QB Matt Schaub key as coach Gary Kubiak's Houston Texans ready vs Miami Dolphins – NFL News
Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak is upbeat about preparation of the team to face off Miami Dolphins challenge in the season’s opening game this Sunday.
Gary has particularly noted with satisfaction the availability of all players for the game, mentioning they have done some intensive workout this Monday and will be doing so for the rest of the week to head to the weekend game with hundred percent fitness
and form.
He said:
"They’ll all be back and ready to go. The first thing I’m going to do is freshen them all up. I’m going to give them a break here this weekend as we finish putting this team together. Then we’ll have a little extra work on Monday and give them their normal
Tuesday.”
He added:
“So I think this weekend is about getting them all fresh and back, frame of mind, body, everything moving forward. Everybody should be there. I don’t foresee any issues."
It will be a new beginning altogether for the Texans, with new targets in front of them, warranting a clear improvement in the performances of all players to move beyond from past season’s level.
The team after having made it to the playoffs and winning the American Football Conference (AFC) south division last year will be out into the new season as Super Bowl contenders, for the first time.
Although all players are going to be crucial to the team’s performance overall, quarterback Matt Schaub who unluckily missed the past season’s glory owing to a foot injury, remains the key to victory chances this year.
He will replace second year quarterback T.J. Yates, who became one of the few players in the league to give winning performance in the rookie year. Unfortunately he is out of the leadership contention this season, since Schaub is available, but his role
as a backup will be even more crucial.
So while the coach is optimistic about the team’s chances, it will be down on all players to excel in their individual capacities to retain what they had achieved a season earlier.
The challenge is even greater this year, given all their divisional rivals have gone through comprehensive squad changes and are raring to make up for the last year’s losses.
