QB Peyton Manning issue needs urgent solution to control damage done to Indianapolis Colts – NFL News
An urgent solution to pertaining issue of the quarterback, Peyton Manning, future at the Indianapolis Colts has become a need of the hour to control the damage being done to the team from controversies being generated from the prevalent doubtful environment
amid opposite and tense statements from both parties.
Both, Colts owner, Jim Irsay, and Manning have come out with a joint statement to dispel the impression of a rift on the issue between the two parties.
The effort is least likely to help improve the situation given the fact that the issue of the QB’s future at Colts, which is the main source of strife in their relationship, has not been touched yet again.
The ties between the two sides are most likely to remain tense as long as the future of the player remains uncertain.
It may well be too late for Irsay at one point to realize that the decision on Manning’s chances to return to play for Colts in more seasons to come needed an urgent solution in view of the player’s popularity among fans and supporters of the team. It stands
a chance to generate fan feud against the team.
Colts have traditionally relied on Manning in most of their wins for more than a decade and the apparent silence by Irsay on the issue has created a doubtful and speculative environment around them.
No matter how busy the owner had been in hiring firing of his team’s staff over past few weeks, he should come out with his definite Manning solution sooner than later.
The player himself has recently been frustrated about the uncertainty, which was further added by the firing of all his former bosses, including managers and coaching staff.
This prompted the QB to term the environment at Colts bad and he expressed his disbelief and confusion on the news of so many officials leaving the team’s headquarters in quick succession.
Following his statements the owner took a rather hasty step of labelling the player as a politician and asking him to prefer sorting out all pertaining issues within the house.
In spite of the fact that both sides later realized the importance of their calmer outlook for Colts and attempted to control the damage done, many of Colts followers still want to know what will be the future of Manning.
The lingering controversy warrants the owner to come out with his strategy, as he has already done with his hiring of a new general manager and head coach.
Having the officials besides him will make the owner’s choice on the player’s future easier. He has to decide if he pays the $28 million due in bonus to Manning or let him be free agent. Coming days will confirm his choice.
