QB Peyton Manning "excited" to work out with new Denver Broncos teammates - NFL News
Denver Broncos quarterback, Peyton Manning said that he felt like a kid in his first day at school as the veteran took part in the first day of the voluntary workouts with his teammates.
The quarterback who signed for Denver Broncos in the offseason was happy to get back onto the training field finally and worked out with wide receiver, Eric Decker and other teammates as he prepares to take over the signal caller role for the first time
outside of Indianapolis.
Manning talked to the media after practice and said that he was happy to finally get into the training facility as opposed to the throwing sessions he has been doing at high school fields.
"I am (excited), there's no question. I think a lot of players around the NFL will tell you the lockout threw a lot of players off their routine and what they're used to. So, I (like) the fact that everybody's allowed to be in the facility now working out
under one roof, we can throw on the field now, right next to the weight room now as opposed to going to a high school.”
The new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) signed between the National Football League (NFL) and the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) last season ended the lockout.
According to the agreement workouts under coaches are limited and players will not get to work with their coaches until the start of Organised Team Activities (OTAs) next month.
The quarterback though will not let that get in his way to become better acquainted with his teammates and will direct the on-field sessions himself.
Cornerback, Champ Bailey was also present during the meeting with the press and could not help but be impressed by the four-time Most Valuable Player’s (MVP) leadership and work-ethic.
Bailey said.
"Why? Because he's an amazing player and his leadership alone is bar none the best in the league,"
Manning will direct the practices and throwing sessions at the facility in the absence of coaches and the Broncos could not have gotten a better professional to help the team prepare for the upcoming 2012-13 season.
These are exciting times in Denver and the fans cannot wait for the start of the new season to see their new quarterback take to the field.
