The defender joins Queens Park Rangers as manager Mark Hughes looks to strengthen his side for the remainder of the season. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 international was signed for an undisclosed fee and admitted he was glad to reunite with his former manager at Loftus Road.
The reason for Onuoha’s departure from the Eastlands was because of the lack of first team opportunities under manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323. Under Hughes though, the defender can be assured of regular football in the second half of the Premier League.
The former Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 and Manchester City manager revealed he was extremely pleased to have Onuoha in his squad. He claimed that since he had managed the 25-year-old previously it would be easier this time around at Queens Park Rangers.
Hughes said in an interview:
“Nedum is a player I know very well. He did very well for me at Manchester City and played a number of games, probably more than under any other Manager.
He is very versatile. He can play centre back or right back, and has good pace. He is a very good addition to the squad.”
The defender felt he had made the right decision by joining the London side and felt he would prosper at the club as opposed to sitting on the bench at Manchester City.
Onuoha said while speaking to the club’s official website:
“This was the right time for me to join a Club like QPR.
The Manager obviously played a massive factor in my decision to come here. I've worked with him before and he always wants players around him who are open and honest.”
Onuoha revealed he believed he had been attracted to Queens Park Rangers because of the manager mostly, having played under him at Manchester City. Along with that the English defender believed the owners had shown ambition with their spending in the transfer window.
He continued:
“The ambition of the owners was really appealing.
This is my Club now and I'll give everything to help us succeed.”
