An inspirational performance from Joey Barton guided Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 to a 3-0 victory against Swansea City, in a Premier League match at Loftus Road on Wednesday.
The win lifted the Rangers to the sixteenth spot in the league table and kept them two points away from the relegation zone.
Barton put the hosts in front at the stroke of halftime. Jamie Mackie then doubled their lead in the 55th minute, before Akos Buzsaky grabbed the third twelve minutes later, to complete the Swans rout on the night. The win was QPR’s third in the
last 5 games, and put them in a good position to avoid an ouster from the top division this season.
On the other hand, it was Swansea’s fourth successive defeat in the Premier League.
The visitors started the game in their usual fashion, playing the ball around as they enjoyed most of the possession in the opening few minutes. They came close in the 15th minute from a set-piece, as Gylfi Sigurdsson took an in-swinging corner
from the right, and the ball was cleared off the goal line by Barton, to deny a simple header to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scott-Sinclair-c32675.
Swans threatened again moments later, after Sinclair’s shot was blocked inside the area, but Wayne Routledge miscued his shot on the rebound, as his effort went well over the post.
QPR were then denied a penalty kick by Lee Probert, after the ball caught the elbow of Ashley William inside the box, but the referee waved play on. The resulting corner ended up with Bobby http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zamora-c40983 heading the ball off target.
However, with halftime approaching, QPR finally broke the deadlock in the stoppage time through their skipper. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adel-Taarabt-c3610 played a free kick inside the box and Barton made the most of the poor clearance from the Swans defenders, as he lashed the ball home
into the bottom right corner.
Swansea pressed forward after the break in search of the equalizer. Joe Allen’s sweeping shot was deflected by Rangers goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, who looked determined to keep a clean sheet.
However, the visitors went further behind in the 55th minute after Mackie took a shot from just outside the area, and a deflection off Rangel proved to be enough to beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-Vorm-c25482, to double the host’s advantage on the night.
Swansea looked for an immediate response and came close to reducing the deficit to one goal. A Sigurdsson free kick saw the team come close, but the ball was cleared off the goal-line by Clint Hill.
The visitor’s defiance finally ended in the 67th minute, after Akos Buzsaky scored a stunning goal from 25 yards out to put the game beyond all doubt.
