QUESTION FOR AMTRAK TRAIN RIDERS. PLEASE HELP?

ok, im leaving tomorrow for 5 days, and i was just curious how does the process work. i dont have my ticket so am i supposed to print my itinerary and take it to a ticket booth at the station and they give me it or what?

ALSO, how do i know where to board at, usually their are multiple cars, and do they announce on the train when ur stop is approaching?

sry its my first time and i just want to have a heads up and be ready. thank you 10 pts to best answer

also id like to add that i have no extra bags, just 1 carry on and a purse, also i didnt buy the ticket, i was just emailed a conformation itinerary and the person lives 3 hours away. will they have my ticket at the station?

my final question is do u get to hang on to ur carry ons? or do they have special storage things above ur head or something like planes do? PLEASE HELP!!!!

Deep breath.  Calm down.

The folks at Amtrak are VERY helpful.  Don't worry about all the small stuff.

It would help to print your itinerary, this will save you some time.

You will know where to board because they will tell you where.

As for the ticket, I have no idea.  I've never had someone else buy me an Amtrak ticket.  However, I have picked up a Greyhound ticket and an airplane ticket.  I just showed my I.D. and they gave me my ticket.  I'm sure Amtrak is the same way.

To add to what others have said, indeed, please don't stress too much, the Amtrak employees are very friendly and helpful and almost all of them go out of their way to make sure that your trip is as pleasant and worry-free as possible.  Also, I believe that you are able to take small items on the train with you, like your purse.

In any event, have a great trip, travel by train is a great (and relaxing) way to travel.

First of all, when the train stops there will be conductors along the train to tell you which car to go to. There is plenty of storage space overhead and down stairs is a large area for oversized bags. The station attendant will sell you your ticket or else the conductor will allow you to buy one on board.
