we all know that a reputable breeder breeds after the ***** is two. breeds pref not back to back, and ideally not after five years old, ( correct if wrong ) so when your finished breeding your quality ^^^^^ and she has been spayed,

DOES SHE NOW HAVE A HOME with her breeder for life. or do you ever re-home, them..

As after a few years would that not add up to QUITE a few dogs to be taking care of,,,if you breed seriously,,,,???

Strange question, but really interested in answer,

  1. The b**** will always have a home with the reputable breeder. And generally a single b****, champion of course,  will only have one or two litters throughout its lifetime. That's not really a lot of dogs and all of them are found homes. A good breeder has all the homes lined up in advance.

  2. Reputable breeders do limit the age and number of times an animal is used in a breeding program.  The woman who raises Maine coons and pixie bobs in my area is a great example of how a caring breeder handles it.  If she has a cat who has shown well and she plans on breeding, she won't breed the animal more than a couple of times, usually 2-3 litters total over about a 3 year period.

The animal is then spayed or neutered and sold to a good home.  Her "retired" Maine coons still sell for around $250-300 per cat.  She does keep one or two favorites, but her breeding stock does get rotated.

Generally, if it is a reputable breeder, the number of animals you keep is lower than someone who is breeding for profit.  Most good breeders won't end up with more young animals than they could reasonably take care of if they had to.  Besides, each of those animals needs to be handled, properly socialized, sometimes trained for show handling.  That's alot of work and impossible if they are breeding in "bulk".  This is another major difference between a good breeder and a BYB.
