QUESTION: Switching companies how do I keep my same number?

Currently I am on Verizon and today I am going to switch to Alltel (to get on my husband's plan). How do I go about keeping my same #? Do i need to bring a bill to verizon that has my verizon acct. # on it or what do I need to do :/ ? Thanks!

When you sign up for Alltel tell them you want to port your number.  They'll do it all for you.  They just need your Verizon account number and security code if you have one.

You don't need to do anything with Verizon.  When Alltel pulls the phone number it will automatically close your Verizon account.
